Are you contemplating a break? Somewhere warm and inviting? Somewhere where the average daytime temperature is around 27 degrees Celsius (80 degrees Fahrenheit).

Perhaps you are dreaming of somewhere with endless golden beaches overlooking deep turquoise waters and a choice of world class islands just a quick boat trip away?

If this is your idea of paradise, then you are in luck. This is exactly what the Whitsunday region of Queensland is like, day in, day out. This time of the year would have to be absolute perfection. The ideal place to holiday.

Imagine a casual barefoot stroll on one of the many golden beaches while working on your tan. Perhaps a relaxing boat trip to one of the tropical islands in the region. You are spoiled for choice, there are 74 of them in the region including the famous Daydream Island, South Mole Island and Hamilton Island.

There’s never a shortage of activities in this region. The next big one to keep in mind is the famous “Whitsunday Reef Festival”. Now in it’s 8th year this annual event strives to be a colourful celebration of the Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsundays. The event runs from the 15/10/2009 till the 19/10/2009.

Airlie Beach Queensland is the perfect place to base yourself for such an experience. When it comes to Whitsundays accommodation or Great Barrier Reef accommodation for that matter, it is difficult to better the region in and around Airlie Beach.

If you are going to holiday in paradise, you may as well stay at a place that is pretty much as perfect as the area it represents. One such place is Mediterranean Resorts. Mediterranean Resorts boasts spacious apartments with private balconies overlooking the Coral Sea. Indeed the facilities and the views offered need to be seen to be believed.

Additionally the resort facilities include 2 beautiful saltwater pools, both with outstanding views and a spa in which to refresh.

The Whitsundays really is the perfect place to holiday and Mediterranean Resorts is well worth considering if it’s outstanding luxury accommodation you seek.

You can learn more at http://www.medresorts.com.au or call direct on 1800 802 089.

During the summer, my family always goes camping in Australia. Each year we choose a different location. This year my dad had picked out a camping site that he hoped would be perfect. I wish we had camped somewhere else, anywhere else.

We arrived at our camping site and found that it was not too far from a caravan park. We made up our campground and prepared to have a lot of fun. After clearing our ground area of debris, we started a nice big fire and cooked dinner. After it got dark, we put marshmallows on a stick and sang some songs. We turned in for the night.

The next morning it was raining very heavily. We couldn’t cook anything, so we had a cold breakfast and began to wait for the rain to stop. After a few hours, it was apparent the rain wasn’t going to stop so we went out to swim in the nearby lake. It was a lot of fun although it was raining. We ate some cold beans for the night and went to bed. The next morning it was still raining and we began to worry that we wouldn’t be able to do anything.

That night it was still raining and the ground was beginning to get pretty soft. For the next 15 days it rained and things got much worse. The Camping Ground was so saturated, that the tents began to sink into the ground. We had brought plenty of canned food that we had hoped to heat up so we didn’t go without food. Finally, my dad said enough was enough and we began to pack up. That went even worse and the ground was so wet and mushy that we ended up covered in mud.

After two days of hot showers and no rain, I finally dried out and was so happy to forget that vacation where it rained for 17 days.

For those that have never been to Cairns CBD, you’re in for a wonderful surprise! This is a fantastic city, whose lifeblood is tourism. Cairns City embraces visitors and you’ll be amazed at all there is to do here.

Known as the “gateway to the North Barrier Reef,” Cairns City is a terrific place to stay while exploring this masterpiece of nature. There are activities here for everyone, including all the attractions this area of the world is known for. Consider a diving adventure, a hike through the Daintree Rainforest, or a ride on the Kuranda Scenic Railway. The rainforests are a huge draw here, especially with Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, which allows you to glide across the rainforest canopy and land safely deeply within the forest.

If the water is more to your liking, there are dive tours for everyone. You’ll find dive schools all over Cairns CBD, and for less than you might think. This is one of the most popular areas of the world to explore underwater. The marine life, the caves, and the beautiful beaches here are simply unmatched anywhere else in the world. Surfing is also huge here, so take a couple of surfing lessons. Before long, you’ll be surfing like a pro!

If theme parks are more to your likely, Cairns City has those as well. You’ll find Dreamworld, which is one of the Cairns CBD hottest tourist attractions in the area. This fanciful park has rides for everyone, as well as special shows and events. The kids will have a blast here, but the parents won’t be sitting around moping either. There is simply too much to do!

If the outdoors and the Outback are more to your liking, you’re certainly in the right area of Australia in Cairns City. You can find tours to just about any part of Queensland, and there’s a whole host of activities here. If the great outdoors or the Cairns CBD is not quite what you had in mind, then read on.

Shopping here is considered a national pastime! You’ll find the fabulous boutiques that have made this area famous. Spend the day exploring these shops and finish it off with a dinner in one of the world’s best restaurants. There are also plenty of art galleries and museums, for those that want to enjoy a cultural experience here.

There are cabarets throughout Cairns City, which can provide an enjoyable night out on the town. You’ll find rock and roll, comedy, and even horror cabarets to choose from. These themed restaurants are a terrific way to spend an evening in the Cairns CBD.

Accommodations in Cairns are plentiful and you can find those that cater to the budget traveler or to the luxury seeker. Want to stay on the beach or back in the historic part of the city? There are beautiful five start hotels and resorts to hostels that the students prefer. You can add a rental car onto your hotel reservation and now Cairns CBD becomes your own adventure land. If you’re ready to experience this region of the world, you have a wonderful array of choices as to lodging, food, shopping, and entertainment.

Lifestyle holidays are the ultimate ventures of pure elation and fun. The features that are given in lifestyle resorts are not only luxurious but they are in fact unique in terms of their ability to serve as entertainment mediums.

There are many options to go for when it comes to having a good holiday. However, lifestyle holidays are one of the most impressive and also interesting choices that one can go for. The countries where lifestyle resorts are present are all well known for their natural beauties and one of those countries is Australia.

Australia is one of the most challenging countries in the world today. This challenge lies in the ability of being able to discover uncharted and, therefore, remote locations (with these locations being present in plenty). Although the general and also the global conception in the global mind harbours aborigines and kangaroos with lots of Australian girls talking in a rolling accent yet this country is much more than that with lots of wonderful beaches and resorts.

Hence, this country is also the host to numerous lifestyle resorts spread along New South Wales and Queensland. Many names can be cited, however, it becomes quite imperative to give an illustration about the facilities and the luxuries that are provided in these resorts. Australia, by virtue of these facilities and provisions, is turning out to be the favourite destinations for all those who seek fantastic lifestyle holidays.

There are many types and forms of features that are given in lifestyle resorts. One of them is enabling a golf-minded tourist to have a good time hitting the ball in wide golf courses. Another feature is the presence of swimming pools in most of the lifestyle resorts.

Apart from these two facilities, the presence of suites along with luxury condos is also a reality with lifestyle resorts. Hence, Lifestyle Holidays on any one of these resorts is quite a wonderful choice.

The River Side Coomera on the Gold coast is one of the most wonderful lifestyle resorts that have been created. This is perhaps, the most exquisite choice for visiting while being on lifestyle holidays. Apart from this resort, the Oyster Cove, the Bargara, the Rockhampton North are some of the excellent lifestyle resorts in Australia.

Therefore, Australia is one of the good choices for going to when one wants to experience the enjoyment that is associated with a lifestyle holiday.

I love the beach. I was there today, at my usual haunt – Riversdale. It’s been a tremendously tough week, and going there is always the best way to deal with it.

The tide was all the way in. Everyone on the beach was sitting up in the dunes, and it was pretty spectacular. Usually the sea is a fair way out.

Now – I love beaches with honking great waves. I’m not a surfer, but myself and my family have always enjoyed the beaches with the huge waves – we just get pummelled by them rather than try and ride them.

So it was with a huge amount of rapture today that we got to Riversdale to find ginormous waves, crashing down the whole length of the beach. We didn’t sit down and relax for a while first – we just headed straight in.

Blimey – the sea was so strong. Within minutes – we were deep enough in that the water was up to our waists – but the waves were so big, that by the time we could stand up after being bowled over by one – the water was up to our necks. A few times – I couldn’t reach the bottom. It was so much fun!

But we also have to be very careful. You see, the waves were that strong – we couldn’t always stand up, and ended up getting dragged into shore – often along the beach as well. And at the same time, as the sea rolled back out – it would drag us out to sea. The strength was phenomenal! (Does that count as a workout???). Trying to stand in one place was pretty difficult, and we both got tired pretty quickly.

One of the reasons I like Riversdale so much is that it is a Patrolled Beach – with DHL Surf Lifeguards looking after it during the high season. I have always had a healthy respect for the sea: while it is a lot of fun – it can kill you if you don’t take the dangers seriously.

This is especially so with New Zealand beaches. Please don’t assume that it is safe to swim at them. Many of them contain Riptides or Rip currents – and if you are not a strong swimmer – or panic – you can end up an ex-swimmer pretty fast.

This is serious.

There have been 13 drownings at New Zealand Beaches in the first 17 days of 2009. If you can’t swim, then learn. Hubby didn’t lean how to swim until about 9 years ago (he was banned from school swimming lessons because they thought it was more important to force him to write Right-handed). Now he is actually a very good swimmer – and gets to enjoy mucking around with huge waves as much as the rest of us.

Riversdale surf lifesaving club runs classes to teach children how to deal with the beach safely – so it’s worth looking for a local version – and getting your kids enrolled.

And learn how to spot rips!

Most importantly – if you are at a beach in New Zealand with signs up saying it’s not safe to swim – then don’t go in the water. Rip Tides can pull you out to sea even if you are just standing in relative shallow water.

Enjoy the beaches in New Zealand – they are stunning – just don’t be stupid.

Watersafe Auckland has a list of safety tips:

1. The safest place to swim at a beach is between the red and yellow flags at lifeguard patrolled beaches.

2.Lifeguards are trained to assess the safest areas for swimming and they mark those areas with red and yellow flags.

3. Listen to advice from lifeguards – they are experienced and trained to assist.

4. Follow the advice of safety signs.

5. Always swim with a friend and under adult supervision.

6. Never run and dive into the water before checking the depth.

7. Never swim under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

8. Do not depend on flotation devices as you can lose them. Off shore winds will carry you out to sea more easily when you are on a board. Use a safety leash with a boogie board or surf board.

9. Be aware of rip currents. Learn how to read the water so you may recognize dangers and judge areas of water space more safe for family use.

10. Heavy clothing such as jeans or hoodies make it harder for you to swim in the water.

11. If you get into trouble raise your arm for assistance, float and wait for help

12. Stay out if in doubt about the surf conditions or your own ability

Sydney is considered Australia’s most expensive city but there are a great range of things to do here that won’t blow the budget. In fact, the cosmopolitan vibe and clean beaches are a great draw for backpackers staying in cheap hostels.

Attractions

There are numerous attractions in Sydney that can be experienced without spending too much money. Government House is a beautiful official building within which the machinations of government occur.

Those who wish to get closer to Sydney flora and fauna can take a stroll through the Royal Botanic Gardens. This year the gardens celebrate the 150th anniversary of the publication of Darwin’s On the Origin of Species.

A walkway connects the gardens to Circular Quay where the throng of activity in Sydney Harbor is concentrated. Travelers can catch a ferry from here or just spend time watching the people come and go.

A stroll in this direction also leads travelers to the iconic Sydney Opera House, which, along with the nearby Sydney Harbor Bridge, is recognized the world over as a symbol of Australia.

At the foot of the Sydney Harbor Bridge travelers will find The Rocks, which is a vibrant port community and is the oldest part of Australia. The Darling Harbor is also worth visiting to see the Chinese Gardens, Sydney Wildlife World and the Aboriginal Center.

Culture

The city has an abundance of attractions for the ‘culture vulture’ on a budget. The Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Australian National Maritime Museum are both free to enter, as is the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Festivals are also a permanent fixture of Sydney life. Whether it is the month-long Mardi Gras festival in February and March or a celebration of music, arts and horticulture, every month of the year promises an outdoor event.

Theaters and cinemas are plentiful and offer a variety of entertainment. The Old Fitzroy Theater in Woolloomooloo presents alternative shows to an audience with urban tastes at reasonable prices. The majority of cinemas, such as Campbelltown’s Dumaresq Street Cinemas, offer discounts on Tuesday screenings.

Going Out

The diversity of immigrant communities in Sydney has led to the prevalence of international cuisine. Dining out offers an array of choice and backpackers should investigate areas in which the popular hostels in Sydney are concentrated, as well as Chinatown and the Sussex Center Food Court for cheap meals. The Pyrmont’s Sydney Fish Market offers a full seafood experience and there are also plenty of free wine tasting opportunities available.

Travelers looking for cheap pubs, cafes and restaurants should head for Balmain and Leichhardt. Kings Cross and Oxford Street are nightlife hotspots as are Bondi, Manly, Cronulla and Parramatta. And for the ultimate outdoor experience in Sydney – head for the beach!

Before settling down and becoming a copywriter for Hostelbookers. Paul Scottyn did a backpacking tour of Australia, he checked out a variety of the country’s budget accommodation, including a number of most hostels in Sydney

An urban locality in the suburb of Mosman in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Balmoral is located in the local government area of the Municipality of Mosman and is part of the Lower North Shore.

Balmoral features Balmoral and Edwards Beaches, both of which are separated by the outcrop of Rocky Point. Both beaches are usually referred to as simply Balmoral and one of the most picturesque beaches in Sydney and has views to North Head, Manly, and Clontarf and is situated at the mouth of Middle Harbour.

The famous Balmoral Rotunda is the home of Shakespeare By The Sea a summer outdoor event held at Balmoral Beach. Other notable events include the annual Mudgee Wine Festival and the Rotunda and Rocky Point Island are also popular for wedding ceremonies and photographs.
A section of the beach is protected by shark net which makes it safe for swimming. However, it should be noted that the beach is not patrolled by lifesavers.

Balmoral Beach has moderate summer temperatures and mild winter temperatures. During summer, the highest temperature for the beach is approximately 25°C while the lowest is about 18°C. In winter, the highest temperature is about 16°C while the lowest is 8°C.
