If you’re not sure whether to opt for a sunshine break or a culture-filled extravaganza on your next cruise holiday, why not go for both on a western Mediterranean cruise?

The region is one of the most culturally-rich areas in the world thanks to the achievements of countries such as Spain, Italy, Croatia, Monaco, Malta, Portugal and Morocco.

These same locations are also ideally situated to make the most of the Mediterranean’s excellent weather and are home to some of the finest beaches you can find anywhere around the globe.

Each country has something unique to offer to cruise-goers, whether it’s Spain’s popular beach culture and intriguing city architecture or Monaco’s atmosphere of wealth and exclusivity.

Croatia is one of those countries that have been heavily influenced by surrounding nations and previous rulers, and as such you’ll likely find elements of Italian, Hungarian and Austrian culture in its own.

In Malta, prehistoric temples, grand palaces and medieval attractions are the order of the day when it comes to educational sightseeing, although the island is home to its fair share of sumptuous beaches for when you’re feeling too lazy to stroll around its streets.

Italy, meanwhile, has ports such as Rome, Venice, Naples and Florence, each of which are world-renowned for their arts, architecture and restaurants, as well as for being particularly romantic destinations for couples.

Elsewhere, Portugal’s mix of popular tourist hotspots and unspoiled countryside and beaches make it a great cruise stop for travellers of all tastes, with Lisbon, the main port, offering a unique destination for a mini city break with a difference if you choose a cruise and stay holiday there.

If you’re considering a cruise package that includes a stop in Morocco, make sure you snap it up. The country will offer an unforgettable holiday experience that is vastly different to anything you will find elsewhere in the western Mediterranean, thanks to its exotic food, spectacular mosques and other Islamic architecture, and markets that bustle day and night.

Wherever you choose to stop, a western Mediterranean cruise could well have everything you could possibly want from the holiday of a lifetime.

When you are looking for a great spot to visit in Morocco, you can not go wrong with Agadir. This is a city that is near Inezagane and Ait Melloul. It has a small population of only 200,000, but it makes up for that with how much fun it is to visit this area. When you are looking for a place that can offer you the best beaches, as well as the best sea food in the world, then you have to head over to Agadir. Because of the great atmosphere in this town, people have chosen this spot to be their Morocco travel setting.

One of the best times to go to Agadir is during the winter when the temperature is around 68 degrees. However, no matter what time of the year you head down there, you are going to find that the beaches are full of nice white sand. Not only that, but because the weather stays so warm all the time, the water in the area stays pretty warm as well. In fact, this is an area that is called “winter sun,” and has become a major tourist spot. However, beaches are not the only thing that makes this area very pretty. This area is not only located right on the Atlantic Ocean shore line, but right at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. Also, just to the north of the town is the Souss River that flows right into the ocean. This is one town that truly is full of nature.

If there is one thing this area is known for, it’s fish. If you love sea food, then this is the area for you. You are not going to find better sea food anywhere else in the world. They have tons of hotels and cafés all over the area that sell amazing fish, and it’s well worth a bite. However, if food is not something that turns you on to an area, then you are in luck, because there are a lot more things to see and do in this town.

After you are done stuffing your face with fish, it’s time to hit up one of the many museums they have here. You could start out by hitting the Musee Bert Flint or the Le Musse des Arts Bereres. After that, you can swing over to the Le Sicilien Coco Polizzi, and then to the Musee de Talborjt. They have so many different museums to see in just this one area that you are going to have to spend just a few days doing nothing except museums. These are places that the whole family is going to love to visit. However, you should also keep in mind that this town is a perfect place to take a loved one on a romantic vacation as well. There are tons of places in Morocco that are worth going to, but if you can only choose one, this should be the area you choose to go to. You are going to find everything that you need to make sure you have a great and relaxing vacation, and you really can not ask for anything else.

Morocco is an enchanting region full of ancestral customs and historical traditions that are ever present in modern life. There are vibrant cities such as Fez and Marrakesh where current traditional flair intermixes with historical attributes. There are also quaint little villages tucked quietly off the beaten path. Here, life tends to follow a slower pace. Many are Berber villages that continue day to day living without the modern conveniences of which we have become accustomed to in life. One of the greatest ways to truly soak in all the sights and sounds that Morocco has to offer is through a guided private Morocco tour. Tour guides are experienced travelers who are familiar with the native language and customs in these smaller towns. The Morocco tour operator will show travelers a new side of Morocco that can not be found in a brochure or commercial.

Morocco Tour Hotspots

A private Morocco tour can show travelers a taste of luxury alongside a more rugged lifestyle adventure in one tour. There are opportunities presented to explore Imperial Cities or trek Morocco on camel back. Spend a night underneath the glistening Morocco starry sky in the Sahara Desert. Enjoy the sunshine lounging on the beach or trek through the mountains for an unforgettable Moroccan holiday experience.

The beautiful thing about a private Morocco tour is that it is completely customizable by the participants. Tour operators stand ready and willing to take travelers to the sights and sounds of Morocco that they personally would like to see. More times than not, this private tour leads to the off beaten pathways and trails where authentic Moroccan living plays out each day.

Start a private Morocco tour exploring the wonders of Fez. This Imperial City features various historical attributes of Moroccan culture. Take a look at the beauty of the Kairouine Mosque from the outside. Muslim custom deems that only Muslims are allowed to enter into Mosques however. Do not take offense to a private tour guide being unable to take travelers inside the Mosque. They are simply respecting Muslim culture.

Let the Morocco tour operator lead the tour towards the Ziz Valley oasis. Here the majestic Sahara Desert will unfold before the eyes. Watch and learn as the tour operator paves the way towards agricultural lifestyles that blanket this region of Morocco. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch in the private home of the tour operator. It will seem as if travelers are welcomed into the home of a good friend to enjoy a delectable meal and animated conversation around the dinner table.

Ask a private Morocco tour operator to show the way into the Dades Gorge. Here a fun-filled day of rock climbing awaits travelers. Make a stop at the base of the rocks to be properly fitted for climbing gear. Let the tour operator interact with the climbing guides in native language to ensure all necessary climbing gear components are received. Once properly fitted for climbing gear, let the adventure begin.

If rock climbing is not something of interest, ask a private tour operator to point out the pathways leading around the rock climbing area. This is ideal territory for a great day of hiking in Morocco. Look and listen as the tour operator points out how the Todra Gorge and Dades Gorge rock formations mimic that of monkey paws.

Spend the day exploring Moroccan history at the UNESCO World Heritage site that can be found in Ait Ben Haddou. Private tour guides will take travelers behind the scenes of blockbuster Hollywood movie films such as The Mummy and Gladiator. At the end of the day, rest and relax in a heritage site at the old medina. As the day comes to a close, animated street performers take to the streets and entertain well into the midnight hours.

A private Morocco holiday continues in the vibrant city of Marrakesh. Destination points of interest here include Koubba Baadiyn and Ali ben Youssef Koranic School. Visit the Saadian Tombs or walk through the souk to find that perfect Moroccan trinket or treasure to bring back home. Allow the private tour operator to venture onto a trekking path in the High Atlas Mountains for a top notch view of Morocco. The trek comes to an end in a quaint authentic Berber village. Here weary hikers can relax and enjoy a beverage of mint tea with a local family. Those that do not wish to make the High Atlas Mountains trek are more than welcome to enjoy the afternoon with a local family. Come upon one by invitation or let the personal tour guide make an introduction to someone already known.

The beauty of a private Morocco tour is seeing parts of Morocco that are unknown or missed by the common traveler. It presents the opportunity to explore those quaint areas of Morocco that are not discussed on travel websites or in brochures. Each portion of the tour is customizable by the traveler wishes and the tour guide knowledge. This creates an unforgettable Morocco holiday adventure.
