“Rome was not built in a day” is a saying well known and it gives the impression that Rome is this great city that took a lot both in time and in resources before its walls were erected. And that is exactly what the saying means; and in the life too. Rome was the largest city back in the days when the Roman Empire was in power for two and a half centuries. But there is more to Rome than the battles for power. There is a beauty that lies hidden. Rome is by no means an ancient city, presently speaking, but the ancient bit has been preserved so the medieval stories can be told by sight rather than by words.

Known as Roma in Italian or translated as the city of the Seven Hills, Rome is one of those places that someone vows to visit once in their life. It has so much to offer besides the history. Like any other city, life bursts forth in the night and cools down when the sun makes an entrance. And during that very night, there are hundreds of restaurants within the city walls that offer finger-licking meals. Everyone knows of Italian food and having the pleasure of visiting the place where it lives is more than a privilege. It creates those moments that you are thankful for having taste buds.

Sightseeing in the city is through taxi or by car. It is the easiest way since all roads literally lead to Rome. When it comes to the seeing, there are too many places to visit but you cannot get to see them all in one day if you want to maintain the fun factor. The landmarks are many and getting a three day pass to all of them for 23 Euro is the best thing that you can do. Pizza in the Palatino Hill, one of the landmarks somehow tastes better coupled with the fact that it is made right at home.

Museums are abundant in the city for those wanting to take back some history or some art knowledge. It is said that for the most part when you are in Rome, it will not strike you that you are walking in a capital city but rather in a small ancient place that has not felt the passing of the years. If you want to see the real beauty, then you are better off walking around instead of driving. The Piazzas that are in the narrow streets are a sight to behold and be guaranteed you are going to want to take pictures.

The Catholic aura is centered in the Vatican, a place closely linked to the birth of Catholic and more so the Roman Catholic.

Being a place well known for the exquisite wines they make, there are numerous Rome hotels and accommodations where you can sip your wine in the luxury of high class hotels fully equipped to meet any need that may arise.

In the end, calling Rome just another city in the sun would be a big understatement.

Estonia is the smallest of the Baltic countries. Still, the country offers spectacular scenery, particularly magnificent castles, a picturesque countryside and charming seaside town. The best Estonia attractions, though, are its natural wonders, which make Estonia one of the best travel destinations for nature lovers.

Lahemaa National Park – This park located in North Estonia covers an area of over 70,000 hectares, which makes it the country’s largest national park as well as one of the most popular natural attractions in Estonia. While there, you can take a hike on one of its nature trails so you can truly appreciate the beauty of the park. You can also go cycling or choose to spend the night in one of the camping areas.

Vilsandi National Park – While the Vilsandi National Park may not be even close to the size of the Lahemaa, it still gains recognition as the oldest nature reserve in Europe, as well as one of the top Estonia attractions. The park is especially a good destination for bird-watchers since it is a place where thousands of migratory birds stop and nest each year.

Matsalu National Park – This park is another treat for bird-watchers, particularly since it is home to almost 300 bird species. Aside from bird-watching, you can go on a botanical tour in one of its meadows, too, or even go canoeing.

Soomaa National Park – The Soomaa National Park is the youngest of the Estonia national parks but is still one of the most popular Estonia attractions particularly because of its bogs and dunes that allow for an exciting outdoor adventure. It also covers an area of approximately 39,000 hectares, making it second to the Lahemaa in terms of size.

Jagala Falls – Located in Haapsalu, the Jagala Falls is the highest waterfall in Estonia with waters cascading from a 7.8 metre-high limestone edge. It is especially spectacular during winter when it is frozen or during summer evenings when it catches the last glints of sunlight.

Parnu Beach – If diving, swimming or simply strolling on sandy shores while watching the waves is your idea of being one with nature, then head out to Parnu Beach, the best beach in Estonia. Aside from enjoying the beach, you can have a good time at one of the beachside bars, too, or take a walk in town to admire the museums and churches in Parnu.

You can also visit the Tallinn Zoo, which is home to various birds, polar bears and snow leopards, as well as the Tallinn Botanical Garden. The Kuressaare Castle is worth seeing, too. Indeed, there are many Estonia attractions that will make your stay in Estonia surely unforgettable.

When you decide to take your “Roman Holiday” and view all that the Eternal City and Vatican City have to offer, you must allow yourself not only a good deal of time but also an empty memory card for your camera. The sheer volume of absolutely magnificent works of art in these cities is astounding. Between the architecture, the sculpture, the painting and everything else the city has to offer your senses will be happily overwhelmed. Arriving with your ticket in hand to any museum in Rome or the Vatican will make your visit that much better. The art draws an impressive number of visitors, which result in lines that would put most amusement park rides to shame.

St. Peter’s Square is a wonderful place to begin, and is architecturally breathtaking. The huge obelisk that represents the spot where St. Peter died and the colonnade that surrounds the open space, as well as the enormous fountain only hint at the magnificence that the price of a Vatican ticket gives you. The interior of the Basilica is truly jaw dropping. The Michelangelo predominated design of the interior is a stunning human accomplishment. Just seeing the expressions on the faces of those entering more than makes up for any time you spent waiting, twisting your Vatican ticket, train ticket and fidgeting with your camera. The structure of the Basilica allows light to enter the building from virtually any angle at virtually any time of the day; almost every stream of light that comes through one of the many windows strikes another perfect photo opportunity.

When you have managed to get your ticket to the Sistine Chapel and first arrive you may think someone has given you the wrong directions. The exterior of the building is about as plain and unembellished as could possibly be imagined. Do not ask for a refund on those Sistine Chapel tickets just yet, this is truly a “don’t judge a book by its cover” situation. The ten year restoration completed in 1994 has brought out the brilliance of frescoes that had been slowly covered by years of carbon deposits and previous restoration attempts. Michelangelo may have had some ill will about taking the commission for the project, but the resulting work is some of the best and most iconic painting that exists today. Who is not familiar with the image of the hand of God reaching for the hand of Adam? The stunning wall frescoes were completed prior to Michelangelo’s ceiling commission and were done by other Renaissance masters like Botticelli.

The relatively small price for admission to any of the amazing museums that you will find in and around Rome more than pays for itself in the stunning amount of photos that you will have to treasure forever. A few euro spent on a Vatican ticket or a Sistine Chapel ticket can give you a 2GB memory card full of photos. Then you, of course, will have to also indulge in taking photos all along the Tiber and of every one of the amazing fountains and statues that make Rome one of the most artistically significant cities in the world.

This article is about the China vacations and you can find some useful information in it if you are planning your China vacations now.

Lijiang is a famous place for the travellers from all over the world. Both the Chinese and foreign travellers love this small town. Many foreign travellers even stay here for serveral years and open a bar or something. What they want is to enjoy the peaceful life of this ancient Chinese town.

I have been to Lijiang once and I still hope that I can visit it for a second time. Lots of people have the same feeling too. Here I will introduce you some of my experience of the Lijiang travel.

Lijiang is a small town in Yunnan, China. The town has a 800 year history from as early as the late Song Dynasty. It is built where the Jade River divides into three and its streams form the canals and waterways which flow along the old town streets. This place is very specail and you will never get to know the real Lijiang if your plan for Lijiang is only 1 or 2 days. Lijiang is a place for the travellers to stay and enjoy the simple life here. I met a girl from Chengdu on my way to Lijiang and she told me that she stayed here in Lijiang for 30 or 40 days every time she visited this place. I will recommend that you stay here for at least 5 days and this will make your Lijiang travel more interesting.( more info about China vacations at Travel2ChinaInfo Dot COM )

How to get in? You can fly to Lijiang from many big cities in China. Another choice is to fly to Kunming first. Kuming is also a famous tourism city. It is called the “Spring City” because of its good climate. You can get fresh flowers at very good deals(3 rmb for a dozen of roses). There are many tourists’ bus heading to Dali from Kuming. You can take the bus at 10 pm and it will arrive at Dali on 6 am next day. Dali is an old Chinese town and has lots of interesting things to see(Traditional chinese dance, wax painting, etc). The bus from Dali to Lijiang starts at 5 pm every day.

The hotels in Lijiang: It is not wise to choose a regular hotel for your Lijiang travel and you will lose all the fun here if you stay in a hotel. Lijiang is a very unique place in the whole world and you can only feel this kind of unique attraction when you live in it(in the old inns of Lijiang). Nobody knows the number of inns in Lijiang. All the inns here are very specail. (cost 20-150 rmb a night) The names of the inns are also very interesting. They are like “longmen inn”, “Yeyuxuan inn”,”Bulage innt”, etc(names from the old Chinese novels). I will recommend the “Yulong inn” here. The owner of this inn is very nice and the price is reasonable. (tel: 0888-5125630, cell phone:13988825550)

Eat in Lijiang: You can find lots of good snacks in Lijiang like “Lijiang baba”, “Jidouliangfen”,”Jiantudou”,”Jizhimixian”. They are the favourites of the young girls. For the males, you can try the “Heishanyangtourou”, it is a very delicious local food and you will never find something like this in other places! (Tips: do not eat in the restaurants near Sifang Street. They are too expensive and food there are not the real Lijiang food.)
